The Story

The outdoor cooker that quietly became part of everyday life

For a long time, people kept asking how we built and used our rocket stove.

Not the heavily engineered versions.

Just the simple one we actually cooked on almost every day.

The first one we built took less than an hour. It was made from leftover materials we already had outside. That same evening, it cooked a pot of curried squash stew made from food we had grown ourselves.

And over time, outdoor cooking stopped feeling like a project. It just became part of daily life.

Coffee in the morning. Soup simmering outside. Cooking with small pieces of wood instead of large fires.

What surprised us most was how approachable it actually was. You do not need perfect materials. You do not need expensive equipment. And you do not need to become an expert to build something functional.

Once you understand the basic structure, the whole thing becomes much simpler than most people expect.

"This is brilliant and the fact that you’ve shown how to use a variety of materials as well what you actually do rather than what you are “supposed” to do it appreciated."
— Lynn, email
"A few hours later and I am cooking on my new rocket stove. Thank you for the air flow troubleshooting I needed that part."
— Pablo, Facebook
"I just showed my wife the video. Her eyes got very wide! We have family and friends who could benefit, and I have a large stack of concrete blocks. Bricks aren't common here."
— David, Facebook
"This is so helpful! Thank you for explaining the principles, that is where it’s all at."
